Happy Clients Make Us Happy

We were recently  privileged to host Liza in our studio. Liza is an out of town girl who sometimes travels to Johannesburg on  business. She likes to take advantage of the time in a different city to get out and about en femme as much as possible. She has all her own clothes and is an accomplished applier of her own makeup. She really only needs a friendly place to sleep where if she is spotted she will not feel judged or unsafe. She has therefore only ever used us for accommodation in the past as she has little need of our other crossdressing services.

She was visiting us last week and we were, as ever, very happy to host her. She mentioned that now that she is a more mature lady it was taking her longer to get ready as she has to work harder on her makeup. I reminded her that Irene was on site and would be happy to assist.

As her schedule was tight she said she would give it a go as at the very least getting the makeup done would reduce her time taken to get ready thus allowing more time for fun. Irene obliged and we were very happy to see just how good Liza looked and more importantly how happy Liza was with the result.

I would say Irene took 15 to 20 years off her and in half the time it would take Liza to apply the makeup on her own. She looks really feminine and happy.

Liza said : ‘Irene of Pricilla’s Services in Jhb worked this magic with her amazing make over! She turned an aging trannie into an attractive woman with the brush work of an angel Thank you sooooooo much!!!!’

We always feel so privileged when we have helped one of our clients to feel like the beautiful woman that we always knew was hidden away inside. Look forward to seeing you again soon Liza, hopefully we  can synchronise diaries better so that we can join you for some time out and about next time.

October Newsletter

Hi Everyone

Hope you are all fabulous, I know I am loving the spring weather and enjoying life. It has been a while since my last newsletter, sorry, but my usual excuse applies… busy!

As usual I would like to welcome all our new clients to the Priscilla’s Services fold and of course extend a warm ‘hiya’ to all our existing clients. You are all very special to us and we are privileged to know you all.

We had a lovely evening of fashion and spring time fun at The OPC at the end of September. The turnout was slightly disappointing as we had five cancellations on the night and the attendance was a bit less than the first one we had in July, but as it was a weeknight, we were expecting fewer people. Nonetheless we all had a great time and it was getting late (well at least it was late for me) when everyone left, so that is a good sign. It was great to meet some new people and the support of the cisgender allies who were there is always appreciated. Thanks to you all for coming.

We were also treated to a most informative discussion on the latest fashion trends, by fashion professional and fellow blogger Ilse Chetty. She was engaging and informative and told us what the upcoming trends were for the season and crucially gave us all some tips on how to maximise our assets through clever clothing choices and combinations. I found it most enjoyable and useful.

As always, our host Lesley was most friendly and engaging. I always enjoy our little chats and I believe that the evening was a success from her point of view. The food was provided by The Boys Catering and it was very tasty indeed. As usual Lesley’s friend Zoe gave superb advice and her impeccable taste was very useful… She found me two spectacular items (a top and a dress) that I am looking forward to wearing soon.

Our studio has been rather busy of late and it has been a lot of fun meeting all our new clients. We are always privileged to help people on their unique journeys and love working with you all. Our existing clients are of course also highly valued and appreciated and we are really enjoying bonding with you and helping you all to find the time and place to be your true selves… as always in the privacy of your choosing and with discretion.

We took a short break in early October, but we are fully back in the saddle and happy to welcome any and all of your queries and enquiries. Don’t forget that we can assist you with any Halloween related needs that you may have. Halloween is always a good time for the more closeted of us to break some bonds and get out en femme… But it can also be a little ‘dangerous’ so let us help you if we can.

We are not planning on doing any more social events this year. We have found that things just get a bit hectic towards the end of the year and people just do not have the time to commit to things. However, there are always places to go and things to do, so if you want to make use of our dressing services, get a makeover, or just need a venue for a day (or night) of en femme fun, please feel to contact us. We are also available for accompanied outings should you want or need that.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at Priscilla’s soon.

Regards

Time to Dress for Spring!

Following on the immense success of our last evening at The OPC, we have decided to reprise the event this spring. Here is all the salient information for you

Date: Wednesday 27 September 2017
Time: 7 pm
Place: 1 Sandela Court, corner Olifants and Levubu Roads, Emmarentia
Cost: R130 per person (includes snacks and drinks)

What is this? You may well ask.
Well, The OPC is a vintage clothing store. They have all sorts of amazing things in stock. Whether it is a ball gown, a wedding dress, a pair of 1990s Prada heels or a bikini from the 1960s, they have it in stock.
We are giving you this opportunity to have a sophisticated evening of socialising, meeting like-minded people and trying on these amazing clothes in a safe and accepting environment.

Plus, this is a wonderful opportunity to refresh and extend your spring and summer wardrobe with some amazing and unique clothes. Clothes that you will definitely not find in the stores. Why follow the crowd when you can be an original?

20150227-0001.jpeg

As an added bonus, Ilse Wils Chetty, a merchandise planner at Jet and a lifestyle and fashion blogger will be giving us a talk on ‘What is hot for summer and how to make it your own’. This will hopefully give us all some insight into fashion trends and some ideas for that wardrobe.

Lesley, the owner of The OPC is a member of the LGBT community and as such is welcoming and accepting. She is putting on some eats and drinks, has agreed to extend her opening hours for us and will also ensure that the interior of the shop is not visible to any prying eyes.

Some of you found the last event difficult to get to as it was on a Friday. We are hoping that by moving this to a Wednesday you will find it easier to attend. So why not come around have some fun, meet some sisters and maybe even buy some clothes (or some jewellery).

We will need to have an idea of numbers for catering purposes, so we would appreciate it if you can book with us by no later than 22 September, to book your tickets, simply click here and give us your name and number of tickets required and we will reserve your place. To pay for your tickets you can simply click on the ‘BUY NOW’ button to the right (or maybe bottom if you are using a mobile device to browse) of this page. It is just under the ‘PAY WITH PAYPAL’ heading. This will enable you to pay us using a credit card or your PayPal account (if you have one). Alternatively, please contact us and we will make an alternative arrangement for you.
Please note that this is a private event and that you must book and pay in advance. No ‘walk ins’ will be accepted.

Of course, anyone needing a place to dress for the evening, help with makeup, a place to stay or any other services should contact us so that we can assist you.

Should you have any other queries please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing you all on 27 September.

August Newsletter

Hi Everyone

Oops! We seem to have missed the July newsletter and we are already into the last third of August and I am only now writing the August newsletter. As you may have guessed we have been rather busy.

As usual I would like to welcome all our new Priscilla’s clients and of course thank all of our existing and loyal clients for their ongoing support. We are really enjoying getting to know you all so well.

We had a very successful vintage clothing evening at The OPC and I hope all of you who came along share our sentiments. A big thank you to you all for your support of Priscilla’s and The OPC. Of course, a big thank you to Llewellyn, Zoe and Lesley for their amazing hospitality and service as well. You were all amazing. If you want a full review of the evening, you can read it here.

We are thinking of doing similar events at The OPC on a more regular basis, perhaps with themes. The next one we are planning is in September (once it is a bit warmer) and we were thinking that you may want to replenish your spring wardrobes? Please let us know what days you would prefer. We were then thinking a Christmas themed event (in November) could also be fun. We would love to hear your thoughts.

We noticed that there was some confusion regarding the cost of our services, especially in relation to a full transformation. We have therefore introduced an all-inclusive transformation package that should simplify things for you. Also, please note that you do NOT have to be a member/pay for a package to benefit from our services. All services are available on an ad hoc basis and you are more than welcome to use them as such. The membership packages do however offer fantastic value for money should you wish to use the services regularly.

Our storage facility is filling up rapidly so I would suggest that anyone wanting storage should contact us soon to avoid disappointment. We have been able to scale up the available space in recent months, but space is not limitless and we are starting to get very full now.

We were very excited to book our first international client in July. She came all the way from Europe and enjoyed our transformation package as well as an accompanied outing to Beefcakes. Unfortunately for her, Irene was away on holiday and she was therefore stuck with me. We would like to thank the very talented Carla for assisting us by coming and doing makeup for us. My skills are simply not up to the job and I was relieved to have a professional who was willing and able to assist me.

In addition to the planned events at The OPC in September and November, why not consider joining us for one of Amuse Cafe’s weekly quiz nights. I went along to one in mid-July and it was really a lot of fun. I was on my own and Dirck was obviously an impeccable host, but the rest of the crowd were all super friendly, accepting and fun. I had a ball! I have even laid the ground work by starting a new team, the Freudian Slips, so we are all ready for an influx of transgender know it alls. Now all we need is YOU!

I would also like to remind you all about Slutwalk. Slutwalk is an international movement that takes place annually in each city. The purpose is to protest sexual assault, victim blaming and challenge the notion that anyone can ever be ‘asking for it’. It promotes safety, women’s rights and consensual sex. Those of us who have never been out and about en femme may not know this, but it can be scary out there. I have taken to carrying pepper spray with me when I am out because I have just had far too many close calls. I am therefore a big fan of Slutwalk and hope that some of you may want to join us (whether en femme or en homme) this year. The event is on 16 September and takes place in Greenside. Anyone wanting more information can contact the organisers via their Facebook page or you can of course contact us at any time or for any reason.

Some sad news, pone of our regular haunts (Trouble Bar) has had to close. I believe there is still a bar in the same premises, but please note that this is no longer Trouble and I cannot vouch for your safety should you go there. There is some good news though. The owners of Trouble have started a new venture in Fourways. The club/bar is called The Frat House and it is open every Friday and Saturday night. As it is run by the same people that ran Trouble you will be welcome and as safe as you can be in a public place. I have not yet managed to get there so I cannot tell you much more about it, but as soon as I do, I will review it.

In exciting news, Daniella has been rather busy of late. Her blog Daniella’s Ramblings was named one of the ‘Top 100 Transgender Blogs on the Web’ in August, by Feedspot. You can see the full list here. Daniella’s Ramblings came in at number 57 if you want to save time scrolling. Daniella was also interviewed by Huffington Post. So, as you can see we really have been rather busy!

Finally, don’t forget that Halloween is just around the corner. Halloween is an excellent opportunity to get out en femme in a safe manner. If any of you are planning on going to a party please remember you can make use of our facilities. We have some Halloween type costumes for hire. Our range is limited, so you may want to buy/hire a costume elsewhere and come to us for all those other accessories (wigs, shoes, jewellery etc) that are much harder to come by and explain. Also, we would be happy to help with your makeup and of course give you a safe place to dress if that is required. Feel free to contact us for more information or even to make a booking.

Looking forward to hearing from you all and please let us know if there is anything we can help you with. We are here to make your lives easier, safer and happier.

Regards

Report Back: Priscilla’s Cheese and Wine at The OPC

On Friday 14 July we held a cheese and wine evening in conjunction with Lesley from The OPC. The OPC is a vintage clothing and collectibles store very close to our venue and Lesley is a very supportive person. After one of our clients suggested it, we chatted with Lesley and came up with the idea for the evening.

Lesley provided us with a lovely, private and friendly venue, The Boys catered with a selection of delicious pates, cheeses and bread. Of course there was wine too. And well we simply arrived. The idea for the evening was that it would give our clients a safe place to be themselves in a social situation, interact with other people, possibly meet some new friends and of course try on some clothes, something that we do not often get a chance to do while snacking on some tasty tidbits.

In a show of amazing foresight, I visited The OPC on the Wednesday before the event and found a spectacular pearl necklace and bracelet set that I thought would go perfectly with the outfit I had planned. I bought it before anyone else could beat me to the punch! My good friend Anna from Anna’s Emporium had given me a pair of stockings to review a few weeks ago and this was to be their big night out (watch out for a review on Daniella’s Ramblings in the near future). I wore a green velveteen dress I had bought at Jet a few months ago and that I had not yet had a chance to wear and as it was a winter’s night I finished it all off with my black stiletto boots. Irene did my makeup and I think she outdid herself this time. As ever a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are five thousand words for you to be getting on with.

Please excuse the slutty flashing of the stocking top but I wanted to show my readers what the stockings look like when I write my review (spoiler alert, they are fabulous).

Keeping in the theme of the evening, Irene wore a vintage black dress and as always she looked spectacular.

We arrived at the venue a little early and everything was set up already. Lesley and Llewellyn from The Boys Catering had done a fine job. This is certainly the best way to entertain. It was lovely to meet Llewellyn and it was a pity that he had to leave early. Lesley had also invited a friend of hers Zoe and it was fantastic to meet such an open and interesting soul. After a short while our guests started arriving. Unfortunately two people who had wanted to come could not make it on the night, but this was offset by the unexpected arrival of someone who had not booked with us. The more the merrier! Everyone looked fabulous as always!

We had a total of twelve people on the night, which was probably just about the right number. The shop was not jam packed and at the same time you were always close enough to be able to chat to someone or just interject or suggest something to a fellow shopper. I think we could have accommodated up to around 16 to 20 people but 12 certainly wasn’t a bad turn out. Lesley had made sure that we were private by blacking out the windows and we were warm and toasty as she had thoughtfully provided a gas heater as well.

Zoe was brilliant at finding just the right combinations of things that would look good on people and she supplements Lesley brilliantly in this regard. I enjoyed chatting to a number of our guests and it was nice to reacquaint ourselves with some old friends.

I believe everyone had a lovely time trying on clothes, finding rare ‘gems’ in the jewelry section and having the opportunity to shop in a semi-private situation was fantastic. I certainly had a great time. Lesley was very happy with the evening and we have already discussed the possibility of holding these on a more regular basis. We would love to hear any feedback and or suggestions from you all. Specifically around how often you would like to have these events, what days of the week suit you best, what time of day etc.

A big thank you to all of you who came and supported us at this event. Also, a big thank you to Lesley for opening her shop and her heart to us and of course to Zoe and Llewelyn for their help and yummy food respectively.

Look forward to seeing you all at our next event. Watch this space!
